It began with an email and a pink chair. I had met Kellie and Donnie separately over the years, but recently heard that those 2 had become one..and now the 2 had become 3:) Kellie emailed me about a month ago, wanting to do their first official family session with their darling McKenley. I have always thought that Kellie was the cutest little thing ever, and I was completely ecstatic at the prospect of doing this for her. I had no idea where I wanted to photograph them…I needed some inspiration..which for me..usually comes in the form of furniture. Luckily, it was that time of year, where Jason and I go to the Lodi “Street Faire”. There are 3 noteworthy things about Lodi..1.) “Stuck in Lodi”-the song..(the only reason ANY one has heard of the town 2.) Nana and Papa live there 3.) The annual STREET FAIRE. We look forward to this event twice a year for gathering “props” for our shoots..and antique trinkets for our house. A few weeks ago we attended the Street Faire and all I had on my mind was Kellie’s upcoming session, and how I was going to be heartbroken if I didn’t find a new chair for it. But there it was… in all of its glorious spendor..between some shabby chic white furniture and an overpriced birdcage. THE chair. It had Kellie and baby McKenley’s name all over it. I figured Donnie wouldn’t mind being sandwhiched between a frilly chair and his pretty little ladies. Plus, Pink is masculine these days right? What guys hasn’t rocked a pink polo shirt in the last 2 years??
ANYWAYS..my new chair and I found some amazing spots for this little fam, and I can’t tell you how much I am in LOVE with this session. I posted quite a few faves from the day to show that family sessions are so much more than just “shooting the family”..its slobbery baby faces, the reject pictures that just make you laugh..the kisses, the romance…the “I don’t know-if-I-can-rock-the-serious-model face-but-I-will-certainly-try” expressions…and everything in between. Its really documenting where everyone is at in that point of life..not just the new babies. It’s just as much about the mom and dad… Your new little family is precious Kellie..THANK YOU for hangin out while Donnie went back to get McKenley’s wardrobe at home, and being such a Joy to be around……Donnie: it wasn’t THAT bad right?? McKenley:you are scrumptious.

Thank you Kellie for letting McKenley model my baby accessories:)
